Maghreb Managing Director (M/F)

Reporting to the Managing Director MEA, the General Manager Maghreb has 5 direct reports, including the GM’s of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, and 3 indirect reports.

 

As the current General Manager for the region is located in Europe, further improvements and commercial growth have shown difficult to be managed from a position outside of the Maghreb. To be really effective, the GM will be in the region constantly and keep the pressure high through weekly face to face discussions.

This new GM that shall be localized in Maghreb (preferably Casablanca).

He/she is a member of the MEA management team

 

 

Mains Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads the Maghreb region to achieve commercial excellence in share, sales and GP targets, as well as to meet customer and supplier needs.
  • Develops & defines commercial strategy and growth initiatives. Coordinates strategy execution.
  • Brings the business drive needed into the different local Maghreb organizations.
  • Drives overall Maghreb budgeting & Business Planning.
  • Steers and motivates the management team (8 persons).
  • Enforces the regional set-up and further improves the commercial structure:
    • sales efficiency,
    • product management,
    • continue transfer to the standard structures etc.
  • Establish targets and KPIs to measure and support the Commercial Excellence goals and objectives.
  • Relationship management:
    • maintains contact with major customers and suppliers on management level, also to chase new opportunities and set up joined strategies.
  • Interacts broadly across value chain and actively promotes the brand’s image in the relevant industries and markets across Maghreb. Ensure the best possible flow of information between the group and its customers and suppliers.
  • Suggests and steers new investments.
  • Guards the group’s culture and guidelines:
    • ensures financial reporting is done in line with Brenntag guidelines,
    • ensures that the group’s compliance and safety rules are followed, etc.

Profil recherché

· Master Degree e. g. in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or similar (Western education or equivalent)

· 7-10 years working experience in a multi-national surrounding (preferred Retail, Distribution, Trading, Chemical Industry) including demonstrated general management responsibilities (no pure consultancy background!)

· Personality showing leadership and drive

· Contributor to high level of ethic and compliance, as is customary for multinational firms

· Commercial background (Supplier facing or Sales) and proven track record in growing and steering business

· Familiar with Corporate and matrix structures

· Open to adapt to and to work with Arab/North African culture

· Experience in leading and motivating a diverse and regionally spread team

· Ability to support the strategy setting for the region, with a strong focus on strategy execution

· Will and ability to develop structures and procedures further

· Entrepreneurial mindset, hands on mentality and self-driven

· Dynamic hunter-profile with an ability to translate customer and supplier needs into new opportunities, building strong and influential business relationships

· Strong negotiation and execution skills

· Fluent in English & French; other languages are a plus

· Comfortable to work and live in North African environments; willing to be located in Maghreb

· Willing to travel frequently through the region (minimum 40% of his/her time)
